I'm soooo proud of you!

So on Saturday, I talked to my grandmother (to my surprise she called me) and she wanted to tell me how proud of me she was for accomplishing different things both recently and throughout my life. There was something about hearing it from her that made me feel like I was really doing something constructive and that all my lovely late nights were paying off. After the past few quarters, I've realized that somethings in life are bigger than receiving a grade and that it is more important what you learn and how you challenge yourself to do better. I definitely still want to make A's don't get me wrong, but after talking with my grandmother and hearing her say "I'm soooo proud of you" I look at things with a different perspective now. :)

Was that a Buick!?!

Sooooo.... I am not really the biggest car person but this car seemed to catch my attention. I'm not sure if it is because it looks more like a luxury car or the simple fact that 100+ year old brand is still producing cars. From looking at different sites about this car, Buick was a little reluctant to offering this car to the market. During the early 2000's Buick had to discontinue some of the their designs, so the questioning is understandable.

The advertising and marketing team is also doing a good job on publicizing this vehicle. The commercial that first caught my attention was when they compare the Buick to a Lexus. . . (I guess...) Shockingly enough the cars 'look' similar, not sure on the durability and needed maintenance and all that good stuff that goes into cars.

Overall, I like this car. I am more of a SUV girl but this car is nice in my opinion. It makes me wonder what Lexus will come out with since this car has such a strong resemblance.

Abstract Paintings

One of my favorite painters is Mary Capan. Her style of painting is geared more towards the abstract rather realistic. A lot of her paintings are made with organic lines and multi colored although she does have paintings that are very linear. One of her key features to her paintings is that they consist of more than one canvas to create the whole piece. The painting that I chose by Capan in linear in style but also uses a great amount of color an texture. All of these aspects that Capan uses to create her pieces are also factors that I like to incorporate into paintings that I do; color, text, and linear/organic lines.

Daddy's Little Girl

I know I know...this is a picture of my father and I but when asked what inspires me, I automatically think of my daddy (and my mom...I love her too lol). After being at SCAD for almost 2 year...u-g-h... I see how important it is to have a great support system especially when I cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. My dad came to visit SCAD one evening and after seeing all that we do he stated "I see why you call sounding like that, you guys are crazy!!" but in a good way of course! Few often understand how much we go through at our beloved institution so it's great to see that someone who is not into the arts as we are appreciates what we do. Every time I look at a picture of my father and I or family period it reminds me to 'keep swimming' and to push myself even when I feel like I can't because regardless of what happens here, I have someone who's proud regardless.
